After you're admitted
Here’s a quick checklist to follow after you have been admitted:
Do the paperwork
With your admission letter you also received a booklet with instructions and a couple of important forms. You will not be able to register for classes until both of these forms and the fee have been submitted.
- The Enrollment Confirmation form reserves your place at UW Tacoma. A $100 fee must also be paid with this form. You should return the form with payment as soon as possible after receiving your offer of admission.
- All newly enrolled students (except Nursing students) are required to provide proof of measles (rubeola) immunity by submitting a Measles Immunity Verification form. This information is used to document compliance in the Registrar’s database.
Apply for financial aid
If you haven’t done so already, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To be considered for UW Tacoma scholarships, you must complete the FAFSA by February 28.
Apply for housing
If you are interested in living on campus, you should complete the On-Campus Housing Application by April 16. After this deadline, check with the Student Services office to see if space is still available or to be put on the waiting list.
Submit final transcripts (Freshmen only)
Freshmen must request a final high school transcript from the high school registrar before high school graduation (and before school closes for the summer). Your transcript must include your final quarter grades and confirmation of your graduation. You must submit your final high school transcripts to UW Tacoma no later than July 1. You will not be able to receive advising or register for classes until your final transcripts have been received.
Create your UW NetID
If you haven't already done so, create your UW NetID and setup your email account. Your NetID will be required for registration and other steps in your orientation process.
Take any placement tests
Most new freshmen need to take a Math Placement Test before they can register. If you plan on taking any Spanish language courses at UW Tacoma, there is also a Spanish Placement Test.
Get your student ID card
Stop by the Enrollment Services Office in GWP 102 to get your photo taken and to get your student ID card. You can do this any time during normal business hours (Monday - Friday). You can also do this during New Student Orientation.
Buy your books
The University Book Store is located on the ground floor of the GWP building at 1748 Pacific Avenue. Lists of required textbooks are available on the University Book Store’s website (www.bookstore.washington.edu).
Attend New Student Orientation
You will get a lot of valuable information at orientation, register for classes plus have a chance to familiarize yourself with campus before classes start. More information about Orientation, including how to sign up for it, will be sent separately to you.
