Residency for military personnel
Active duty members
To apply for residency for tuition as active duty military members or as a member's spouse or dependents, you must:
- Complete and print the resident tuition for military personnel form.
- Return the original, completed resident tuition for military personnel form (we cannot accept photocopies or faxes) to the Office of the Registrar along with the supporting documentation (i.e., copy of student's military ID and copy of active duty military member's orders to be stationed in Washington state).
- Review should take about one week. After that time, you may contact the Registrar's Office to inquire about the status of your paperwork.
Washington National Guard members
To apply for residency for tuition as Washington National Guard members or as a member's spouse or dependents, you must:
- Complete and print the resident tuition for military personnel form.
- Return the original, completed resident tuition for military personnel form (we cannot accept photocopies or faxes) to the Office of the Registrar along with the supporting documentation (i.e., copy of student's military ID and copy of active duty military member's orders to be stationed in Washington state).
- Review should take about one week. After that time, you may contact the Registrar's Office to inquire about the status of your paperwork.
Discharged members
To apply as a discharged member who joined in Washington, you must:
- Complete and print the residency questionnaire PDF.
- Submit a copy of your DD-214 showing Washington as your place of entry and date separated.
- Provide verification you have returned to the state of Washington within 12 months of discharge.
Washington residents stationed elsewhere
To apply as military members (or dependents) who are from Washington, but stationed in another state or overseas, you must:
- Complete and print the residency questionnaire PDF.
- Provide documentation of your (or the active duty military member's) home of record (L.E.S. - Leave and Earnings Statement)
- Submit documentation that you are maintaining your Washington legal ties while being stationed elsewhere. You need at least three of the following:
- driver's license
- voter registration
- vehicle registration
- bank account
- property ownership
