2012 Diversity Summit: Take the Journey Toward Stewardship and Social Change

This year’s theme, “Exploring Diversity: Take the Journey Toward Stewardship and Social Change," highlights diversity as an important value in building and nurturing an inclusive community by incorporating stewardship in our everyday lives. The New Wilderness Project defines Stewardship as an action that arises from caring and informed relationships in one's natural and cultural communities. They define this journey into the New Wilderness as an opportunity to explore the landscape of difference that exists between people; a space that no one owns where we able to come together as equals to meet across our differences.

Through the use of creative expression tools and techniques the keynotes Benjie and Maketa allow themselves and others to share and understand the diversity within their community. Here, you will engage in a dialogue which means both speaking and listening which will reveal both common understandings and real differences. You will leave this session empowered to become the change agents needed on your campuses and in the community to make diversity, in all of its forms, possible. We are excited to have you join us in this energetic engagement of diversity.
