Urban Studies Scholarship
The Urban Studies Scholarship supports students in sustainable development, community planning, urban design and GIS programs. The Urban Studies Program engages students, faculty, and community to advance critical thinking, social justice, and applied research through the transformative power of higher education. With programs in sustainable urban development, geographic information systems, urban design and community planning, it attracts a range of students hoping to promote social justice and equitable development.
Chancellor’s Opportunity Fund
To support for a broad range of student emergency needs as a resource of last resort when a student's ability to remain on track to succeed at UW Tacoma is in jeopardy at the discretion of the Chancellor of UW Tacoma.
Clyde & Sydna Koontz Nursing Scholarship
The Clyde and Sydna Koontz Endowed Nursing Scholarship provides financial assistance to nursing students at UW Tacoma. Both Clyde and Sydna Koontz are alumni of the UW: he holds an M.D. from the School of Medicine and she holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Education. During his medical career, Dr. Koontz was a pulmonary care specialist serving patients in Pierce and South King counties, so scholarship students living in these areas receive preference, which can be awarded to students based on financial need or merit. Since his retirement from practice, Dr. Koontz has been one of UW Tacoma’s most devoted advocates.
MBA Endowed Fund
The endowed scholarship program allows students who might otherwise struggle with the high cost of an MBA degree to earn an important credential for moving into the higher ranks of management.
Mary Cline Undergraduate Research Award
Provides research support for undergraduate students studying environmental science at the UW Tacoma.
Math Science Leadership Program
Supports the summer academic technology camp for junior-high and high-school aged students.
Global Honors Excellence Fund
Provides support for the UW Tacoma Global Honors Program to be used at the discretion of the director.
Tacoma Founders' Endowment
This endowment provides support to faculty and students at the University of Washington Tacoma.
Debra Friedman Memorial Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to undergraduate students at UW Tacoma with a 2.75 or higher grade point average. When possible priority is given to students who are among the first generation of their family to attend college.
Tacoma Whole Child Initiative Fund
Supports the Tacoma Whole Child Initiative partnership with Tacoma Public Schools.
