Dr. Divya McMillin, Professor, School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences

Dr. Divya McMillian is a professor of global media studies and executive director of the Institute for Global Engagement and the Global Honors Program at UW Tacoma. She teaches global media courses for UW Tacoma's communication major, and orientation and capstone seminars for the Global Honors Program. Her courses focus on media globalization, children and television, gender, ethnicity, class and the media, and media ethics.

Dr. McMillin has shown an impressive leadership role in advancing the needs of UW Tacoma students. As founding faculty for the now–flourishing communication major, Dr. McMillin developed multiple courses and recruited several faculty. Prior to becoming its director, she served on the advisory board for the Global Honors Program. As the founding executive director of the Institute for Global Engagement, she has overseen the development of the IGE Student Engagement Program, a series of community engagements and experiential learning opportunities intended to enrich students' understanding of real-world dynamics.
