The Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility at the Milgard School of Business, University of Washington Tacoma is pleased to announce its third annual research conference to be held July 12-13, 2012 in Tacoma, Washington, USA. This conference has attracted leading academics from more than ten countries.

The 2012 conference is scheduled to start mid-day on Thursday, July 12 and conclude by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13.  The schedule will be linked at the bottom of the conference page in late spring 2012. 

Doctoral Student Scholarships


The Center will provide financial support covering registration fees and accommodations (double occupancy) for up to ten Ph.D. students who are focusing their research/dissertation on topics that align with this Academic Conference on Social Responsibility.  The deadline to apply will be announced in spring 2012.

Cost

The 2012 registration fee is $150.  It includes all conference materials, Thursday evening's gala dinner at Pacific Grill, Friday breakfast and lunch, as well as password-protected web access to the full text of all papers presented and the conference proceedings.  Conference fees do not include lodging, transportation, or travel documents.

A negotiated room rate of $149/night has been arranged at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown, located just a 2-block walk from the campus conference venue.  Reserve your room online or call +1 253-591-9100 or 800-321-2211 and ask for the "CSR Conference rate" or click on one of the links below to reserve your room online.  The deadline to receive the block rate is Friday, June 22, 2012.

Transportation

The nearest airport is the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).  Many travelers mistake the USA capitol of Washington DC with Washington State; the University of Washington Tacoma is in Washington State, which is roughly 2,800mi/4,500km away from the American capitol city.  A list of private providers of ground transportation to the Courtyard by Marriott-Tacoma can be found here.  Roundtrip fares vary from $40-$50 and do not include a driver gratuity.   The Sound Transit (public transportation) bus schedule and fares are listed here.  

Local Area Information

Visa/Invitation and Acceptance Letters

We do provide invitation or visa letters to anyone with a paid registration. Please send your request to clsr@uw.edu.  Any specific questions regarding visas should be directed to your local government, embassy or immigration office. Regulations vary from country to country, and are subject to change without notice.  As a result, UW Tacoma is not in a position to be an authority and advise in this area.

We will provide letters to certify your attendance upon request after the conference.  Individuals who register but do not attend will not be provided with a letter, nor will they be granted access to the conference attendees-only section of the website.
