Responsibility in Small Enterprises (RISE) is a forum for discussion and discovery of responsible and sustainable business practices for small businesses. There are many large organizations designed to explore this topic for large, multi-national corporations, but this group is designed specifically with the small and medium sized business in mind.
The Milgard School of Business Advisory Board has appointed a task force of members from the Board to advise on the direction of the Center's activities, in particular the activities related to engaging with the business community.
On April 7th, the Center hosted a community forum on Social Responsibility in the Financial Sector. This lively discussion with two leading experts in the field explored the responsibility of the sector for our current financial crisis and the role that both business and government will play in the recovery of our economy.
The Center for Leadership & Social Responsibility, in partnership with the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce jointly sponsored a study titled "Giving Back in the South Sound" in the summer and fall of 2008. The study was conducted by Dr. Jill Purdy, Associate Professor of Management in the Milgard School of Business and Dr. Stern Neill, Associate Professor of Marketing at Cal Poly (formerly at the Milgard School).
