Academics

Beginning winter quarter January 2009 it is your responsibility, as students, to check with the University Book Store and the copy center to determine whether there are course materials available for your class. In addition, it is expected that you download additional course materials via Blackboard (BB)and electronic library course reserves. Policies & Procedures

Retention and Dismissal Policy: The Retention and Dismissal Policy of the University of Washington Tacoma Education program outlines the policy and procedures regarding review for low scholarship and satisfactory progress for all students enrolled in the Education program. Academic standards and satisfactory progress are outlined separately for all M. Ed. students except for specific modifications outlined for students enrolled in the Teacher Certification program (TCP) and for those students enrolled in the Educational Administrator program. All students regardless of program are expected to meet Standards for Essential Abilities and Dispositions for Admission and Continuance in the Education Program of the University of Washington Tacoma. The section regarding the process for placing students on probation, final probation, and drop has been updated.

Retention and Dismissal Policy

Limit Enrollment Policy: The faculty have instituted a new policy regarding how many times a student can take a course. This policy will be included in the student handbooks. Students may not enroll in a course from which they withdrew (after the add/drop deadline) or completed but failed for a third time. If a student was referred to the council for low scholarship and/or unsatisfactory progress, the UWT Education Graduate Faculty Council may decide a course cannot be taken more than once.

Students are responsible for knowing policies and procedures as outlined by the Graduate School, the Education Program, and the University of Washington Tacoma.
