Information Technology Application

IT admits students once per year for autumn quarter only. Applications are currently being accepted for Autumn 2018.

Autumn 2018 Application Deadlines

Priority Review: March 15
Final Deadline: May 15

Note: If you are not a current student at UW Tacoma, you must first apply for admission to the university.  See the UW Tacoma Admissions page for information on the application process and deadlines. Once you are admitted to UWT and have a student number, you may submit your application to IT.

Please read the list of required IT application materials carefully. You will upload these documents directly into the application, so you should have everything ready to go before you complete and submit the form. You cannot save an in-progress application.

Applications that are submitted without all the required materials will be considered incomplete. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until all documents have been received. Applicants who submit by the March 15 priority deadline, but who are still missing materials when the admissions committee meets for priority consideration, will be reviewed after the final May 15 deadline instead.

If you still have prerequisite courses in-progress at the time that you apply, it is your responsibility to send an updated unofficial transcript to the Institute once grades are posted for these courses. Email updated transcripts and any missing materials to, with your full name and UWT student ID number included in the message.

The following documents are required to complete the IT application:

  1. Unofficial Transcript(s)
  2. Current résumé
  3. Signed Essential Behaviors for Admission, Continuation and Graduation form. Download Essential Behaviors Form.
  4. Personal Essay: Write about your reasons for pursuing a degree in Information Technology and desired educational outcomes. Your essay should be no more than two pages, typed and double spaced with a 12-point font. The essay should be an example of your ability to communicate effectively in writing and demonstrate your understanding of the Information Technology field of study.
  5. Supplementary documentation: Two professional or academic recommendations. Download Academic Recommendation Form.
