The Asian Studies minor offers students the opportunity to develop a well-rounded understanding of the countries and cultures of Asia. The courses enable students to fit the Asian experience into a theoretical context of global patterns of modernization and economic development while focusing on specific historical and cultural elements in Asian countries.
Students who could benefit:
- work or plan to work in businesses dealing with Asia.
- are interested in applying to graduate studies in history, anthropology, or other humanities or social science areas.
- are Nursing or Social Work students with a clientele that includes members of the Asian community.
- are Education students interested in integrating Asia into their classroom work.
How to declare
You can declare a minor by using the declare/change major form and submitting it to Enrollment Services. You must have earned a minimum of 45 credits and declared a major before declaring a minor. If you have any questions about this process, please see your adviser.
