The Office of International Programs is pleased to announce this summer study abroad program:

Emerging Rights: Documenting the Struggle for Social and Environmental Justice in Brazil

The Brazil program is composed of one seminar, one language course and one applied media project. Beginning in Sao Bernardo do Campo, students live with host families and study intensive Portuguese. Site visits to nearby Sao Paulo followed by an extended visit to Campo Grande create a context for dialoguing with social movements and understanding their interface with environmental issues. Students observe and document through the use of digital media the current work of various urban and rural movements and the relationship between rights and environmental justice as it shapes social, political and economic formations. Campo Grande also presents students with the opportunity to experience flora and fauna of the fantastic Brazilian Pantanal.

Students from all three campuses are invited to apply.
