In 2012, the Office of International Programs launched Expedition Fellows, a unique study abroad program for UW Tacoma's first and second year students. Each year, Expedition Fellows provides an outstanding opportunity for a small group of students and a faculty member to explore an academic topic of mutual interest together in an international setting. To learn more about the pedagogical basis and development of Expedition Fellows, visit Expedition Fellows Program Pedagogy.
In 2015, Expedition Fellows travel to Costa Rica on a program led by Dr. John "Buck" Banks. Expedition Fellows will focus on Sciences and Math (SAM) studies at UWT. This two-credit program gives students the opportunity to experience what it's like to study in the field and have a chance to develop a new, global perspective.
