Finding Media Items
All media items can be found by searching UW Worldcat on the Library homepage. From this search box, you may also limit by format. To learn more about searching for videos, please visit our libguide to finding videos in the UW Libraries.
Checking Out Videos
All available media items can also checked out on a drop-in basis. Bring call numbers and titles to the Snoqualmie Building Service Desk, and a staff member will retrieve items.
Holds can be placed by logging into UW Libraries Search and clicking on "Availability and Request Options." All requested items will be available for pick up at the Tioga Library Building Circulation Desk. Videos are checked out for 7 days, with unlimited renewals if there are no other holds.
Scheduling Videos for Class
To schedule videos from any of the three campuses for preview or classroom viewing, please use our online booking form. You will receive an email when the videos are ready. All scheduled videos can be picked up at the Tioga Library Building Circulation Desk.
To place videos on course reserve, use our online scheduling form and check the box stating that you’d like to put the videos on reserve. You may also send a list of titles and call numbers to firstname.lastname@example.org. Videos can be placed on reserve for up to one quarter.
The UW Libraries has an increasing number of streaming video collections licensed for academic use. The Media Collection provides services that enable instructors to incoporate streaming video into their classes. If you are new to using streaming video, please see:
For a complete list of all the video collections that are available, please go to our guide to streaming video.
Requesting Media Items from Another Campus
Media Items from UW Seattle and UW Bothell can be obtained by clicking on the “Availability & Request Options” button in UW Libraries Search. You will receive an automated email when the requested materials arrive, and items will be available for pick up at the Tioga Library Building Circulation Desk.
Recommending Media Purchases
To suggest materials for the Media Collection, please send an email to Justin Wadland.
Faculty from other UW campuses
Faculty from another UW campus who would like to borrow videos from the Media Collection should contact their local media center, whose staff will coordinate the inter-library exchange of items. The UW LIbraries Media Center handles circulation and is the primary collection of media on the UW Seattle campus, while the UW Bothell Campus Library serves the UW Bothell/Cascadia Campuses.
