The UW Tacoma and Milgard School of Business have a two-step admission process. This involves several items and applicants should apply to UW Tacoma before applying to Business. The Milgard School of Business admits students primarily for Autumn Quarter. Admission for Winter is based on space availability. Additional information about these requirements can be found on our Admission Requirements page.
Applicants should have completed a minimum of four business prerequisites and 60 credits completed prior to submitting a Business application.

Step 1: Apply to UW Tacoma
Transfer Students (Domestic)

- Submit the Application for Transfer Admission to the University of Washington Tacoma.
- Request an official transcript for all college-level coursework. High school transcripts are required only if foreign language requirements were completed in high school.
- The University of Washington Tacoma now requires, when possible, that official transcripts be sent electronically from any Washington State Community or Technical College. UW Tacoma's electronic transcript code is 412.

- Skip Step 1 and proceed to Step 2 (below).

Running Start Students (who meet program admission requirements)

- Submit the Freshman Application to the University of Washington Tacoma.
- Request an official transcript for all college-level coursework.

Returning UW Tacoma Students

- If you were previously enrolled at UW Tacoma, submit Returning Student Application.
Returning students may also need to submit supplemental materials to the Milgard School of Business. Check with the program for details.

Step 2: Apply to the Milgard School of Business
STOP! Before you start this step, make sure you have FULLY completed STEP 1 above.
A. Submit the Business School Application
- Download and print out the Business School Application.
- Applications are due prior to the posted application deadline for the quarter to which they are applying. There is no application fee to apply to the Milgard School of Business.

B. Take the Writing Skills Assessment or Submit Proof of English Proficiency (for international students only)
- Register for the Writing Skills Assessment or submit qualifying TOEFL or IELTS scores (for international students*) prior to the posted application deadline for the quarter to which they are applying.
*Effective Autumn 2011, international transfer students may submit TOEFL or IELTS scores at or above the minimum requirements instead of taking the WSA. University of Washington Tacoma and Milgard School of Business minimum english language proficiency standards must be met. International Applicants have additional requirements to gain admission to the Univeristy of Washington Tacoma. Review those requirements prior to submitting an application to the University of Washington Tacoma or the Milgard School of Business.

C. Submit Personal Statement
- Transfer students may use the same personal statement used on the original Application for Transfer Admission listed in Step 1. Current UW Tacoma students should write a new personal statement based on the guidelines listed in the Business School Application.

D. Additional Information
Complete applications received by the application deadline will be assured of a review; complete applications received after the application deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis. Admissions will remain open until the program is full.
Your admission is contingent upon receipt of transcripts verifying successful completion of all prerequisite courses prior to the quarter you will begin classes at the University. Additional information about these requirements can be found on our Admission Requirements page.
