Create a "new applicant profile" by providing your contact and other personal information at the University of Washington Graduate School application website. Next, please select the Graduate application type and then choose one of the UW Tacoma Program:
After that, complete the rest of the New Application to the UW Graduate School and the UW Tacoma MBA Program Application Form. |

Step 3Submit Official Transcripts

Have an official transcript sent to the Milgard School of Business from each college or university attended. If you graduated from any of the University of Washington campuses, then you do not need to submit a transcript. Mail transcripts to: Milgard School of Business

Step 4Submit official GMAT Scores |
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores are required for admission. If you have not taken the GMAT, please schedule an appointment by clicking here. To report your scores, select the options below: Program Name MBA, Part Time We will accept GRE if completed in the last 5 years as an alternative if you are unable to provide GMAT scores. Applicants with a terminal degree (J.D., M.D., Ph.D., etc.) may waive the GMAT or GRE requirement. Contact the program if you have questions. |
Step 5Acknowledgment |
Login to the UW Graduate School Application website and check whether the MBA Program office has received each of your MBA application materials. Please note that all required materials must be received before your application can be evaluated. You may be contacted by the Milgard MBA Program Office requesting additional material as needed. |
Step 6Decisions |
The MBA Admissions Committee will review complete applications within three weeks of the priority application deadline. Decision letters will be sent in mid-June. After the priority deadline applications are reviewed on rolling basis. |
Instructions for required supplemental application materials
Resume
Your resume, submitted online in plain text, or uploaded in Word or PDF, should include the following:
- All managerial and professional work experience since graduating from high school
- Any relevant community and/or extracurricular activities
- Any awards, honors, or other forms of recognition (academic, community, military, etc.) earned
Management and Professional Work Experience Summary
Complete the online Management and Professional Work Experience Summary (PDF) that includes the following categories, with years of work expressed in years and rounded up to the nearest half year.
- Management: Defined as direct responsibility for the assets of an organization; supervision of two or more people (e.g., manager, executive leader, team leader, group/project coordinator, etc.); special projects; processes; databases; budgets, etc.
- Professional: Requires professional expertise in business functions such as sales, accounting, human resources, finance, marketing, operations, etc. and/or technical functions such as engineering, research, logistics, computer programming, sciences, etc.
Total Work Experience is sum of years in management and professional positions since high school.
Note: The online Management and Professional Work Experience Summary PDF is in Acrobat 8.0. Applicants may use Acrobat 7.0 or 8.0 to save it into the application materials. Acrobat 7.0 is a free download available through the online application process.
Admission Essay
All applicants must submit one required essay online in plain text, or upload in Word or PDF in one paginated document using a minimum font size of 11. An opportunity is provided to include an optional essay.
The required essay is to address the following topic:
Describe your career goals and explain how an MBA from UW Tacoma will help you accomplish these goals. (750 words maximum)
Optional Essay:
Use this essay to include any other information you believe would be helpful to the Admissions Committee in considering your application (250 words maximum) and uploaded in Word or PDF in one paginated document using a minimum font size of 11.
Applicant Survey
Complete the Applicant Survey as part of the required application to the Milgard School of Business MBA Program.
Optional Essay for Milgard Scholarship Consideration
For Milgard School of Business Scholarship consideration for new MBAs only, submit online in plain text, or uploaded in Word or PDF, a personal essay that is one-page, double-spaced, and a minimum font size of 11. Include your full name on the essay and title it "Milgard Scholarship Consideration for New MBAs".
In the essay, describe your leadership activities and goals in your organization or community and explain how this MBA program will help you accomplish these activities and goals.
