Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) Registration
The Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) is required of all applicants to the Milgard School of Business.* The WSA consists of two essays: a Persuasion Task and a Position Task. Each task is scored on a six-point scale. The two scores are averaged to create an assessment score.
You will be notified of your test results with your admission decision letter. Double check that you have typed your e-mail address accurately on the registration form. Your assessment confirmation and electronic receipt are sent to that address.
*Effective Autumn 2011, international applicants with an F-1 Student Visa have the option to submit qualifying TOEFL or IELTS scores in lieu of taking the WSA. Applicants can opt to take the WSA.
Submit your registration electronically by following the link below, and pay in one of the following ways:
- Pay online with Visa/MasterCard/Discover via PayPal on the registration confirmation page (PayPal is the preferred method, and must be chosen at time of registration)
- Pay in advance with cash, check, or credit card at the UW Tacoma Cashier's office in MAT 354N. You may also call the Cashier and pay over the phone: 253-692-4669. Your receipt must be delivered to Dougan 401 prior to your test date to confirm registration.
Please note: Payment is not accepted at the exam, and the cashier is not open on Saturday.
If you are requesting to test out-of-state, download the Out-of-State Writing Skills Assessment Registration Form and mail with the appropriate fee.
