UW Provost Ana Mari Cauce has named a diverse group of UW Tacoma, Seattle and Bothell faculty and staff and South Sound community members to advise her and UW President Michael Young on selecting the next chancellor of UW Tacoma.
The committee has started meeting, and invites UW faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends and supporters from the community to provide ideas and feedback on the future of UW Tacoma and the role of the next chancellor.
The committee will forward to Provost Cauce and President Young the names of at least three highly qualified candidates. The provost and president will then recommend to the UW Board of Regents one candidate for appointment.
The committee has 19 members and is chaired by current UW Tacoma Interim Chancellor Kenyon Chan, and co-chaired by Jill Purdy, chair of the UW Tacoma Faculty Assembly and associate professor in the Milgard School of Business. Community members serving on the committee include David Zeeck, publisher of The News Tribune in Tacoma and member of the UW Tacoma Advisory Board, and William T. Weyerhaeuser, chairman of Columbia Banking System, Inc.
The complete list of appointees to the search committee can be found on the Provost’s web page. This site includes the Provost’s charge to the search committee and the text of UW Executive Order No. 20, which establishes policies and procedures guiding university leadership searches.
