BSN: advising overview
Once admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, students receive an admissions packet that includes important information. A personalized and detailed program plan is provided at BSN Orientation. Contact the Adviser immediately if you have questions or need to make an appointment to change your program plan.
Academic Advising
- New student advising and orientation
- Information about meeting admission deficiencies
- Clarifying degree requirements
- Approving transfer credits toward the degree
- Planning and tracking progress in the degree
- Evaluating your plan for graduation
- Completing the paperwork necessary for graduation
- Referrals to other resources (counseling, faculty, etc.)
Faculty Advising
- Mentoring during coursework and independent studies
- Information about educational and professional career choices
- Assistance with problem solving when factors affect academic progress in the program
- Referrals to campus or community resources
- Assistance in linking the BSN degree and future goals, including:
- Pathways to careers
- Graduate study
