Challenge Yourself Academically

  • The Global Honors Program is the University of Washington Tacoma's interdisciplinary honors program, adding distinction to the bachelor's degree. It offers a global curriculum, a stimulating learning environment, and an active community of high-achieving students. Through rigorous core seminars, immersive study abroad opportunities, and extra-curricular events, honors scholars embark on enriching pathways to community leadership and global citizenship.
     
  • Talk to faculty in your discipline about how to get started on research, scholarly work, or creative projects outside the classroom. Start on your department’s website

The Office of Equity & Inclusion offers the hugely popular Student Success Mentoring Program (SSMP). Apply, and you’ll be paired with a terrific faculty or staff member on campus.

And remember to forge relationships with faculty on your own!

Learn About Competitive Fellowships

The Office of Student Fellowships & Awards is here to support engaged students like you in their applications to nationally competitive fellowships as well as some UW-wide opportunities. Not sure what a fellowship is? Find out on their website or better still, attend one of the upcoming info sessions.

Study Abroad

Want to spend some time in a place outside the U.S.? Contact the Office of International Programs for a variety of study abroad opportunities.

Tutor or Teach

  • Get experience tutoring at our Teaching and Learning Center. You can work either as a writing or math/quantitative skills tutor.
     
  • If you'd like to support a Tacoma area high school student with their college applications, take a look at the STEPS mentor program.
