The UW Tacoma School of Education offers two exciting leadership programs depending on your specific goals:
Educational Administration Program
- You have excelled as an educator but now you want to focus on a leadership position such as a principal or program administrator.
- You have taken on leadership roles in your school/district and are eager to expand your leadership role.
- Have others pointed out that you would be a good leader and encouraged you to pursue a career in educational leadership?
Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)
- Are you interested in a doctoral program in Educational Leadership—a component of many career paths?
- Are you a current or aspirational educational leader?
- Do you have an interest in educating others and teaching them how to solve issues?
- Looking for career advancement? The Ed.D. Program offers a range of study options; Nursing and Healthcare Leadership, P-12 Educators/Superintendent, Higher Education, Adult Education, Public Service, and more.

Educational Administration Program
- Provides aspiring leaders with a rigorous, standards-based curriculum and highly supportive field experience.
- Conducive to a working educator schedule - Evening and weekend programs (except summer)
- Course work and internship are done concurrently which allows for certification in one year

Educational Administration Program
- Current educators who want to pursue a leadership role in education
- Educators who are natural leaders and comfortable taking on leadership roles in their school/district
- People who have been tapped by their leaders to step up and into a leadership position
Educational Leadership (Ed.D.)
- P-12: teacher leaders, principals, central office administrators, private educational roles, and superintendents.
- Nursing Education & Healthcare Leadership: nurses, healthcare leaders and educators from a variety of settings.
- Higher Education: instructors or staff with leadership experience who seek roles in institutions of higher education.
- Adult Education: those who lead in adult education professional development settings.
- Public Service: Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and other government-based educational arenas, such as city, county, or state level employees in which education is a primary responsibility.
- Other: those engaging in Educational Leadership in another domain—tell us about it. We’ll discuss the fit of this program for you.
