Staff on campus are encouraged to seek continuous professional development opportunities while employed at the University of Washington Tacoma. There are a variety of opportunities, including offerings from the Staff Association, campus departments, and regional/national associations and organizations.

Staff Association

Occasionally, the Staff Association will offer workshops, trainings, and professional development sessions for staff on campus. This includes opportunities such as webinars, staff discussions, speakers/keynotes, and more. We collaborate with on-campus departments, as well as off-campus organizations. Stay up-to-date by watching your email for information!

Human Resources

In addition to required employee trainings, UW Tacoma Human Resources offers a variety of workshops and sessions geared towards helping staff develop and grow. Topics include management excellence, supervising student employees, project management, teambuilding, and more! Checkout the HR professional development website for more information.
 

Professional Development Center

UW Tacoma staff members are eligible to receive up to 50% off courses offered by the Professional Development Center. Different courses are available throughout the year, so be sure to stay up-to-date with their course catalog!

UW POD

A variety of courses and certifications are available through UW's Professional and Organizational Development unit. Staff are encouraged to discuss development opportunities and interests with supervisors. Release time may be granted for training that is related to an employee's job responsibilities.
