About the Program
The Chancellor's Undergraduate Research Scholar award is designed to support the development of faculty research and engage undergraduate students in meaningful research experiences with faculty and other undergraduate scholars. This award is made available through the generous support of the Office of the Chancellor. The Chancellor's Undergraduate Research Scholar award exemplifies the Chancellor's commitment to the mission of UW Tacoma "to educate diverse learners and transform communities by expanding the boundaries of knowledge and discovery".
The Office of Undergraduate Education in collaboration with the Office of Research and Scholarship Support invites faculty from units across UW Tacoma to submit applications. Applications are accepted twice a year with an opportunity to renew awards quarterly.
Applications are accepted twice annually: in December for awards beginning in Winter or Spring Quarters, and in May for awards beginning in Summer or Autumn Quarters. The application form and exact deadline date will be posted here when they are available.
Full-time UW Tacoma faculty (any rank) may nominate any UW Tacoma undergraduate student for this award. Note: award distribution is dependent on a current faculty appointment.
The Scholar award is a three-tiered financial awards program. The three tiers of awards include: Scholar I, II, and III. Each award builds on the foundation of the previous award. Students receive the financial award directly at the beginning of each quarter.
|Award Type||Award Amount||Duration|
|Scholar I||$500 award||First quarter|
|Scholar II||$1,000 award||Second consecutive quarter|
|Scholar III||$1,500 award||Third consecutive quarter (and all subsequent consecutive quarters)|
