Program of study

The Sustainable Urban Development curriculum consists of a 74-credit set of required core area coursework:

  • Core courses (54 credits)
  • Core electives (20 credits)

In addition to the core coursework, students are required to complete general university requirements and electives, bringing their total number of credits to 180. The degree planning worksheet can be helpful in tracking progress through the program.

SUD core

All courses are five credits unless otherwise noted.

Introductory courses (must complete all of the following):

Methods requirements

  • T GIS 311 Maps and GIS (6 credits)
  • TMATH 110 Introductory Statistics with Applications (or equivalent)

Capstone requirement (select one):

Core electives

20 credits from the list of approved courses with at least five credits in environmental science.

General electives (varies)

The balance of credits taken are upper-division general electives. Students may focus on an in-depth area of study (ie., a minor or certificate) or explore the liberal arts, business, social work or health-related fields.
