UW Tacoma is a great place to learn and to teach. Our mission statement says: The University of Washington Tacoma educates diverse learners and transforms communities by expanding the boundaries of knowledge and discovery.

Our priorities are set as a reflection of our mission and values. Our fundamental purpose is to educate students for life as global citizens. We recognize that an excellent education connects knowledge across disciplines. Our community of learners is strengthened by a diversity of voices.

We have identified four core values that guide us: Excellence, Community, Diversity and Innovation. We share these values and strive to live by them.

The role of Academic Affairs is to a create and maintain a learning environment that attends to this mission and values for all stakeholders:  faculty, staff, students, administration, community members, alumni.
