Part-Time Lecturers - Temporary

Checklist for New Part-Time Lecturers

New Hire: Part-time Lecturer, Temporary

A part-time lecturer is considered NEW if they have never worked for the UW as a part-time lecturer or they have been terminated from a previous part-time lecturer position. Everything on the checklist is required for the new appointment. 

  1. If brand new to UW, send the Criminal Conviction History Disclosure Form to Heather via email at hlp3@uw.edu
  2. Email the entire scanned packet as one pdf to Heather and Casey.
  3. Follow the process for hiring or rehiring a new employee into a JM sup org.
  4. Follow the process for adding an academic appointment.
  5. Upload the packet during the hiring business process to Workday.

Reappointment: Part-time Lecturer, Temporary

A renewal of a part-time lecturer-temporary occurs when there has been no break in teaching in consecutive quarters. A faculty vote is required for reappointment. The department faculty, by a majority vote, may delegate to an elected committee of its voting faculty the authority to recommend renewal without a full faculty vote (Faculty Code Section 24-53 A).

  1. Email the scanned copy of the completed faculty appointment agreement to Heather and Casey.
  2. Follow the process for reappointment if they are continuing.
     

Full-Time Lecturer, Temporary (non-competitive)

New Hire: Full-Time Lecturer, Temporary
  1. If brand new to UW, send the Criminal Conviction History Disclosure Form to Heather via email at hlp3@uw.edu
  2. Email the entire scanned packet as one pdf to Heather and Casey.
  3. Follow the process for hiring a new employee into a JM sup org. 
  4. Follow the process to add an academic appointment.
  5. Upload the packet during the hiring business process to Workday.

Reappointment: Full-Time Lecturer, Temporary

After a Full-Time Lecturer, Temporary has been approved for a renewal by the EVCAA, follow the business process for Reappointment

  1. If brand new to the UW, send the Criminal Conviction History Disclosure Form to Heather via email at hlp3@uw.edu
  2. Email the scanned packet as one pdf to Heather and Casey.
  3. Follow the process for creating a position into the correct position management supervisory organization.  Once approved follow the process for hiring academic personnel.
  4. Follow the process to add an academic appointment.
  5. Upload the packet during the hiring business process if new to Workday or in Maintain Worker Documents if not new to Workday.

Affiliate and Clinical Appointments

  1. Email the scanned packet as one pdf to Heather and Casey.
  2. Follow the process for hiring unpaid academics - Academic Personnel, select Employee Subtype: Unpaid Academic Affiliate and use Academic Affiliate-Unpaid as the job profile; then Hire and add academic appointment.
