Compensation and Supplements

Salary supplements are awarded for a variety of reasons including temporary additional responsibilities and administrative duties. All supplements for faculty must be entered into Workday and approved by the UW Tacoma Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, UW Academic HR and the Integrated Service Center (ISC).

Prior to Workday entry, submit the Request Approval for Additional Compensation form to the EVCAA. If approved, the request will then be entered into Workday by the unit.

Administrative Supplements

An administrative supplement (ADS) is awarded to faculty who are appointed in an administrative role at the UW.

Excess Compensation

Excess compensation is designed to pay faculty for services provided outside normal duties. Typically it is for service performed on a one-time-only basis such as a lecture or workshop.

Temporary Supplement

A temporary supplement is awarded to faculty who are requested to assume temporary additional responsibilities.

Endowed Supplement

An endowed supplement may be awarded to faculty members who have been appointed as endowed professor or chair as allowed under the terms of the endowment.

Summer Salary

Academic personnel with a nine-month service period may choose to work during summer quarter.
