The Master of Cybersecurity & Leadership (MCL) at the University of Washington Tacoma develops leaders who can effectively identify and promote solutions that protect an organization's cyber systems. It is designed for professionals and military personnel with a technical background and work experience. This is a master's degree that will enhance technical and leadership skills for career advancement in the field of cybersecurity.
We leverage the resources of the School of Engineering & Technology and the Milgard School of Business to create one of the most innovative graduate programs at UW Tacoma. By identifying, addressing, and promoting solutions for issues of information assurance and cybersecurity, MCL serves as an educational foundation for invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the state of Washington, giving graduates the path to success in in the cybersecurity field. Applicants must provide evidence of the successful completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0 GPA.
A degree in computer science or information technology is NOT required; however, applicants who can demonstrate knowledge of computer network technologies and computer programming language(s) are preferred.
Technical proficiency in Networking can be demonstrated by providing documentation in at least one of the following areas.
Education: An Introduction to Computer Networking course
Professional Experience and/or Certification, e.g., (1 year of working with, managing, maintaining information networks) and/or network certification
Technical proficiency in Programming can be demonstrated by providing documentation in at least one of the following areas:
Education: Intro to programming course in Java, C#, C++, or C
Relevant work experience in programming
Candidates with a minimum of four years of professional experience are also preferred.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
The GRE general exam is required for a small number of applicants. See the MCL GRE Waiver Policy for more details.
The test must have been taken within the last five years. Request that ETS send your scores directly to the University of Washington at code 4854.
Visit the GRE website to learn more about the test and to find a testing center near you. Please notify the Graduate School at email@example.com if your scores are missing and you took the test under an alternate spelling of your name (ie last and first name are switched). Competitive applicants score in the top percentiles for quantitative and mid-percentiles or better for verbal.
