Admission to the Milgard School of Business is capacity-constrained and there is a formal application process. Applicants are evaluated based on:
Completion of at least 60 quarter college level credits with a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
Completion of an English Composition course with a minimum 2.0 grade
A minimum2.75cumulative GPA* in the business prerequisite courses:
Financial Accounting I
Financial Accounting II
*A minimum 2.0 grade is required in each prerequisite course. Business prerequisites may not be taken P/F or S/NS. Applicants to the Accounting option must earn a minimum 2.5 in each accounting course and a cumulative 3.0 across all accounting courses. Contact us for questions related to use of S/NS during quarters deemed extraordinary [affected by COVID-19] by the University of Washington and/or transfer institutions.
At the time you apply, English composition, financial accounting I, microeconomics or macroeconomics, and two additional business prerequisites from the above list must be completed with a grade on your transcript and ALL business prerequisites must be completed prior to the start of the quarter of admission.
IMPORTANT UPDATE Writing Skills Assessment: Winter 2022 Applicants
Due to the complex situation we are facing from Covid 19, until further notice, the UW Tacoma Milgard School of Business will offer three options for meeting the Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) admissions requirement:
Combination of English composition course prerequisite and the Personal Statement (select this option on the BABA application)
Writing Skills Assessment(Registration is available for the WSA option for winter quarter 2022 admission. Deadline to register for it is September 27.)
TOEFL/IELTS score (option is available for F-1 visa holders and select domestic students, contact us if you have questions)

RESULTS OF THE WRITING SKILLS ASSESSMENT (WSA)
The Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) is an in-person writing test required for admission to all University of Washington business schools. Click here to learn more and officially register for a test date.
F-1 visa holders and select domestic students may submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores in lieu of taking the WSA.
The deadline for completing the WSA, TOEFL, or IELTS for Autumn quarter admission is May 15 and for Winter quarter admission is October 15.
