After a rigorous day presenting in classrooms on the 2nd floor of the JOY building, judges deliberated and announced the placing teams around 4 p.m. Congratulations to our winners, and a special thanks to all that competed and supported the event! Our 1st place team will proceed to represent the Milgard School at the invitational case competition on February 28.
The case was regarding the development of the company "&pizza". Students were challenged to research and present a compelling case in hopes of providing a solution to &pizza based on 3 main questions:
1) Without resorting to a franchise model, utilized by many in the fast-casual food industry, how can &pizza meet its rapid expansion goals?
2) With an emphasis on automation of core duties such as making pizza dough and receiving orders, how can &pizza continue to center the employee experience? AND
3) How can &pizza increase their employee retention rate, given that it is currently not much above industry standard, despite, on average $2 hour more in hourly wages, strong benefits packages, and employee input into operations.
On February 28, 20 of undergraduate business students from across the globe will come to UW Tacoma to participate in this event. The non-US universities participating in this event will be from Australia, Canada, India, Italy, Korea, Netherlands, and Switzerland. We invite you to join us at this event later this month from 1:30-4 p.m. in WPH!
