Nina Zhao is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering with UW Seattle. She is studying the fate and transport of synthetic steroids and other bioactive contaminants in the environment with a special focus on their transformation in both natural and engineered systems.
Rui Wang is a visiting PhD student from South China University of Technology. He is working with Dr. Ed Kolodziej on investigating the degradation mechanism of emerging contaminants in stormwater during the chlorination process.
Ting Tang is a visiting PhD student from South China University of Technology. She has been working on the environmental fate (partition and transformation) of a range of stormwater-associated pollutants for which little is known in the scientific literature.
Ximin Hu is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering with UW Seattle. He is studying data analysis on the LC-MS data and urban stormwater contamination issues.
Research Assistants and Interns
David Wark is currently a UW Tacoma Environmental Science major who assists the Kolodziej and James groups with sample preparation and analysis.
Richard Brun is a recent UW Tacoma Computer Science graduate student. He is conducting an internship with the City of Tacoma Office of Sustainability to deploy a network of low-cost air quality monitors in Tacoma.
Rachel Hettinger is a senior in the UW Tacoma Environmental Science program. After completing a summer internship focused on developing an inventory of current environmental research projects in the Puget Sound/Salish Sea ecosystem, she is now working in our lab supporting ongoing research projects.
