How you can help
We did not see COVID-19 coming. Now that it’s here, student emergencies are more widespread than ever. Students are experiencing unprecedented hardships that may prevent them continuing their education or finishing their degrees. UW Tacoma has three active funds supporting eligible students experiencing difficult and unforeseen challenges. Please consider giving generously if you can.
- Chancellor’s Opportunity Fund: This fund supports any kind of emergency blocking a student’s ability to continue their UW Tacoma education. All students are eligible; needs funded include housing, health, required education-related supplies and materials, loss of income, etc.
- UW Tacoma Pantry Fund: The demand for food and resources provided to our food-insecure students and their families has more than doubled since the beginning of COVID-19. We anticipate needs upward of $15,000 over the next six months to keep our Pantry shelves as stocked as possible.
- Emergency Completion Grants Fund: This fund will specifically support eligible UW Tacoma seniors experiencing a COVID-19-related emergency who, without emergency assistance, may not be able to complete their degree programs and graduate.
- We also encourage you to support the Pierce County COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, a partnership between the United Way of Pierce County and the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation.
