Snoqualmie-Tioga Update Project

We have an opportunity to bring together into a powerful alliance several fundamental parts of our student- and community-focused mission through a remodeling of the Snoqualmie-Tioga complex. These units, which are critical to our values of access and excellence, include the Center for Equity & Inclusion (CEI), Library, Teaching & Learning Center (TLC), and veteran-related services (VMRC/VIBE).

Academic Innovation Building

UW Tacoma has identified an opportunity to implement a long-term innovative vision which will add new high-demand engineering programs and more efficiently deliver high-quality education within the Milgard School of Business. To accomplish this vision, UW Tacoma has proposed a new Academic Innovation Building to be constructed in two phases. It will add the labs and support spaces to allow UW Tacoma to start a high-demand mechanical engineering program. It will meet existing and new Business School needs by providing appropriately sized and configured classrooms and associated collaboration areas. And, it will connect Engineering and Business disciplines in a way that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship and leverages existing industry partnerships. By meeting these two departmental needs, this new academic building will also address a high-priority campus-wide need for general classrooms and collaboration space.

A pre-design report has been prepared by Hacker Architects. The University is currently seeking a combination of state and private funding to begin design on this building in the 2019-21 biennium.
