Parking lots and permits

There are five pay-parking lots and one pay-parking garage on campus; rates vary. Permits are available for most of these. There are also nearby pay parking lots on Pacific Avenue next to the Washington State History Museum and at Broadway and 17th next to the Tacoma Convention Center.

Street parking

Metered street parking is available on campus with a two-hour limit. Some free parking is available between Market Street and Tacoma Avenue from South 21st to South 17th streets. Moving from one space to another on the same block and feeding the meter past two hours are unlawful and fines are enforced.

Other options

Parking is also available at the Tacoma Dome Transit Station parking garage. The free Link light rail train runs from the garage to campus every 10 minutes. This garage often fills up early, so finding a space at mid-day may be difficult. Learn more about riding the Link to campus.

Disability parking spaces

Parking for drivers with disability permits is available in all of the pay parking lots as well as on Dolly Roberson Lane behind the Cherry Parkes Building and in the small parking area behind the Dougan Building. Quarterly parking permits for disability spaces are also available.

Parking fines

If you received a parking ticket in one of the campus lots, how you pay or contest the fine depends on which lot you parked in:

Cragle Lot (21st & C Street across from Mattress Factory) and Pinkerton Lot – These lots are managed by UW Tacoma and fines should be paid at the Cashier's Office. Information on paying or contesting fines.

All other campus lots – All other campus lots are managed by Diamond Parking. You can find information on paying or contesting fines on their website.
