The IGE Directed Research Program (DRP) provides an enriching opportunity for community partners to support Honors students in their capstone projects and to produce professional quality reports and presentations. The purpose is to connect student research questions to community needs so they are relevant to real issues, challenges and opportunities. With faculty guidance, students will engage in contextually rich research, develop critical analyses and share practical policy recommendations to transform research into action.
Whether students choose to study abroad or locate their globally focused research in our community, the DRP encourages creative problem solving while fostering the lateral thinking critical for a global perspective. Community partners' engagement in undergraduate research and collaboration with Honors faculty can create powerful change in students' lives and careers as well as catalyze development in the port city of Tacoma. Altogether, up to 85% of our alumni choose to live in the South Sound, pouring the breadth and depth of their cutting edge education into the future of our dynamic city.
