Victor Palanchuk, Security Operations Intern at Avanade

After six hard years working construction I decided to take my life into a different direction and get my Bachelor’s degree. In 2012 I was admitted into the Information Technology and Systems program at the University of Washington – Tacoma. I will be part of the fourth cohort to graduate from this program. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it was worth it. My favorite thing about the ITS cohort is the community and friendship I’ve built with my classmates and professors as we’ve learned together. I’ve also been able to join a few groups, one being Grey Hat, where we engaged in hands on activities and gain experience that you can’t get from a classroom. At the end of my junior year I started interning for a consulting company, Avanade, in their security operations team. My favorite part about working at Avanade is that I get to work with technology before it was released to the public and gain hands on experience in my chosen field. I am very pleased with what I have accomplished in the last two years, and without the education and experience I’ve gained at UW I would not be where I am at professionally.
