UW Tacoma recently created the Office of Student Fellowships & Awards (OSFA) to support UW Tacoma students in their applications for competitive institutional, national, and international fellowships. This new office would not be complete without new Director, Cindy Schaarschmidt. As Director of OSFA, Cindy will be collaborating with campus partners to raise awareness of fellowship opportunities, help students develop the skills and personal insights necessary to pursue scholarships, and provide assistance throughout the application process. Here's a message and invitation from Cindy:
Dear UWT Students:
I wanted to let you know that I am here to support outstanding students like you in their applications to nationally competitive fellowships as well as some UW-wide opportunities. Not sure what a fellowship is? Then take a look at my office website to find out, or come to one of my “Intro to Fellowships” sessions in the fall (dates will be announced on the OSFA website in early September).
I am available to discuss fellowships one-on-one. Just shoot me an email if this sounds interesting to you. I am, of course, also happy to speak about other nationally competitive awards opportunities. Got questions? Ask away. I look forward to hearing from you.
Visit the OSFA website (tacoma.uw.edu/scholar) for more information. The site also features a new searchable fellowships database. OSFA is located in MAT 210. Cindy can be reached by phone (253-692-4358) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to set up an appointment or stop by MAT 210 to simply welcome her to UWT.
