Peace Corps Campus Ambassadors

Gearing up to volunteer in the Peace Corps? Check out this interesting campus opportunity...

Join the Peace Corps Campus Ambassadors today! This internship-like opportunity helps undergraduates become local networking and social media experts for the Peace Corps. Students participating in this opportunity work closely with Peace Corps recruiters to promote Peace Corps within the campus community.

Ambassadors are trained in their specific roles, and receive other professional development opportunities (including an official recommendation letter) along the way.

The Peace Corps recruiter who oversees each ambassador’s campus will create a spreadsheet of biweekly assignments for the ambassadors, with such activities as:

  • Post and tweet multimedia content about the Peace Corps.
  • Identify and connect with diverse student groups around campus, plugging them into Peace Corps activities and sharing the Peace Corps story with them.
  • Participate in nationwide ambassador photo and video competitions.
  • Organize Peace Corps movie screenings and other activities.
  • AND, help promote the UW Tacoma Peace Corps Prep program.

Who should apply

Ultimately, anyone interested in the Peace Corps and promoting it on campus should apply. The program is unpaid, but it shouldn’t take more than two or three hours a week—sometimes more, usually less.

Consider yourself invited! We encourage you to apply ESPECIALLY if you are a...

  • Current or incoming UWT Peace Corps Prep program participant interested in serving in the Peace Corps and you want to deepen your relationship with the Peace Corps in advance of that. (While this doesn't replace the need to be a qualified Peace Corps applicant in other ways, being a successful ambassador will offer a competitive edge, providing an insider’s view and demonstrating your commitment.)
  • Student who does not yet know much about the Peace Corps but is intrigued and has regular contact with student communities on campus.
