A Rigorous, Relevant Curriculum

Program Design & Course Schedule

  • 64 credit degree program: 12 core courses, 4 electives
  • Students may complete in as few as 7 quarters
  • Non-credit degree requirement: pre-enrollment online quantitative skills workshop

Class meets one night per week, plus two Saturdays during the quarter.
*Those following a non-traditional schedule or those entering the program in winter quarter (MBA Gold Cohort) may follow a different schedule that necessitates meeting on multiple nights for some quarters.

The quarterly schedule for a typical MBA student will be:

  • Tuesday night, Class 1 6:15-7:45 PM & Class 2 8:00-9:30 PM
  • Plus two full Saturdays each quarter, Class 1 9:00am-12:20, Class 2 1:00-4:20pm
  • Each class will have required online content between each class session.
  • *September classes require 2-4 full weekdays and Saturdays. Summer classes meet weekday evenings and Saturdays.

  • Develop and articulate the organization's strategic direction
  • Manage people, information, and processes to accomplish organizational goals and objectives
  • Understand organizations as complex, interdependent systems operating in an ever-changing and uncertain environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the social, political, economic, ethical, and environmental context of the organization
  • Analyze and diagnose complex organizational problems, design effective solutions, and implement change
  • Students have flexible elective options to customize their course of study or they may choose our Healthcare concentration

  • Students register for the September course as part of their autumn quarter registration. 
  • Once you are admitted and confirm your intent to enroll in the MBA, then the MBA program will email you an account for MBAmath.com
  • The MBA Program is a 64 credit program. Students must take 16 credits of electives to fulfil MBA program requirements. Eight of these elective credits must be taken within the Milgard School of Business (denoted with *). Elective options include:
    • MBA Summer elective offerings*
    • Autumn Electives (TBUS 570 and TMGMT 557)*
    • Independent Study (please see our independent study policy – max. 4 credits can be applied toward MBA degree)*
    • Internship (please see our internship policy – max. 5 credits can be applied toward MBA degree)*
    • Milgard Graduate Study Abroad*
    • Graduate courses offered in MSB (advanced approval from the MBA program and permission from the program where you seek to take the course need to be obtained)*
    • Other UW Graduate Study abroad (advanced approval from the MBA program and permission from the program where you seek to take the course need to be obtained)
    • Graduate courses offered outside MSB in a student's field of interest (advanced approval from the MBA program and permission from the program where you seek to take the course need to be obtained)
    • 400-level undergraduate business courses within MSB (max 5 credits, may use only once)*

  • Classes meet primarily on weekday evenings, Monday through Thursday or occasionally on Saturday. September classes, meeting in a compressed format before Autumn quarter begins, require 2-4 full weekdays and Saturdays. Summer classes meet weekday evenings and Saturdays.

Healthcare Concentration

The core curriculum for the healthcare concentration and the flexible MBA are the same, but summer electives will vary.  Students pursuing the health care option will be required to take specific electives from the Milgard MBA.

Enabling business professionals to adapt to the evolving realities of the global marketplace, the Milgard School’s MBA curriculum provides a solid foundation, rooted in business fundamentals identified by regional business leaders.

Our program can be completed in only 7 quarters, with classes meeting one night a week and on two Saturdays per quarter.
