Get answers to your questions about college at the fifth-annual South Sound College Fair at the University of Washington Tacoma from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. Participants can meet with representatives from 21 colleges and universities around the Sound and learn about admissions, applications, financial aid, degrees, continuing education and more. Admission is free. High school students, adults planning to return to school and anyone who wants to know how to prepare for college are encouraged to attend. The Write Reason: Graffiti art and hip-hop

Celebrate hip-hop culture at this graffiti art show and music performance Thursday, Jan. 31 at UW Tacoma's Longshoremen's Hall. Rapper and graffiti artist Can-U will perform. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Student Activities Board at (253) 692-4684.

Advising Tuesday at UW Tacoma

On the first Tuesday of every month, UW Tacoma admissions advisors host an information session to answer questions about the university and offer campus tours and admissions advising for anyone who is interested in applying to UW Tacoma as a freshman or transfer student. Victoria Bjorklund: 'Quietness' at UW Tacoma Gallery

The distinctive black-and-white images of Tacoma photographer Victoria Bjorklund will be on display at the UW Tacoma Gallery in January and February. A graduate of the certificate program at The Maine Photographic Workshops, Bjorklund is inspired by the ability of photography to express her interpretation of the world as she sees it through her eyes. Her black-and-white landscape work poetically captures the beauty and simplicity of the natural world. The gallery is located at 1742 Pacific Ave., across from Union Station. Gallery hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. For more information, call the gallery at (253) 906-8233.
