UWaTERS Environmental Research Symposium

Graduating UW Tacoma Environmental Science students will present their capstone research projects at the fifth-annual UW Tacoma Environmental Research Symposium, or UWaTERS. Students will discuss their work, which ranges from the restoration of a Tacoma park to research in the marshes of Saskatchewan and harmful algae blooms in Puget Sound.

Advising Tuesday at UW Tacoma

Interested in earning a UW degree in Tacoma, but don't know where to begin? Start at UW Tacoma Advising Tuesday. On the first Tuesday of every month, UW Tacoma admissions advisors host an information session to answer questions about the university and offer campus tours and admissions advising for anyone who is interested in applying to UW Tacoma as a freshman or transfer student. UW Tacoma Commencement
June 8 at 10 a.m.
Tacoma Dome

Best-selling Seattle mystery author J.A. Jance will deliver the keynote address at the University of Washington Tacoma's 17th annual Commencement ceremony at the Tacoma Dome Friday, June 8. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Commencement is free and open to the public. The Class of 2007 is UW Tacoma's largest graduating class ever, with 900 students.   • *NEW* Graduation party, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Mattress Factory building: Grads and their guests are invited to this celebration immediately following Commencement. Have your picture taken by a professional photographer, learn about the UW Tacoma Alumni Association and enjoy light refreshments.

Summer Quarter at UW Tacoma

June 18 to Aug. 17

Whether you're catching up on college credits or just want to take a quirky class, Summer Quarter at UW Tacoma has something for everyone. Open to both current UW Tacoma students and non-degree-seeking students, Summer Quarter offers a chance to take advantage of two months of daytime and evening educational opportunities at UW Tacoma. Registration begins Thursday, May 24 and classes run Monday, June 18 to Friday, Aug. 17.

"Inner Limits" exhibit at UW Tacoma gallery

"Inner Limits," a video and sculpture exhibit by New York artist Betsy Alwin, will be on display at the UW Tacoma gallery in May and June. An installation that playfully expresses concepts of distance, time and geography, "Inner Limits" incorporates video footage of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and a five-foot kaleidoscope exploring changing landscapes of the earth. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, or by appointment. For more information, contact Jamie Kelley at kellej2@u.washington.edu.
