We offer workshops in learning strategies, writing and quantitative studies each quarter. Workshops are free to current students. All workshops are taught by TLC staff and no registration is necessary. Workshops are held in Snoqualmie 239 unless otherwise noted.

Greetings and welcome to the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE)!  Our office plays a central role in creating a foundational experience for undergraduates on the UW Tacoma campus - through special initiatives such as the Freshman Core and Summer Bridge, our office strives to provide a comprehensive four-year undergraduate experience.

General Electives are additional courses you may take to either fulfill your requirements for obtaining the Nonprofit Management Certificate or to further enhance your knowledge and skills as a Nonprofit leader.


Performance Measurement Core

Performance Measurement (Core Class)

The performance measurement core course will introduce nonprofit professionals to current concepts in measurement systems designed to induce learning and to improve the performance of a nonprofit organization. Each participant will learn a framework for defining the intended impact of their organization and to identify outcomes and measures anchored to the intended impact.

Employment Law for Nonprofits*

This course is designed for professionals who work for or with nonprofit organizations and would like to gain knowledge in complying with federal and state employment laws and compensation systems related to not-for-profit, tax-exempt employers.

Identify the implications of key federal and state laws and regulations that apply to various sized nonprofit organizations.

Human Resources Development Core

Human Resource Development (Core Class)

Learn practical and lawful approaches to develop human resource policies and job descriptions, recruitment, selection, and retention strategies, performance planning and evaluation, and appropriate staffing structures. Strategically respond to issues related to individual employee motivation, delegation, and coaching.
