Current or Former U.S. Military Personnel, Spouse or Child

Students applying for residency using the military forms below are eligible to pay resident tuition and fees; however, they are not eligible for state need-based financial aid.

Approval to pay resident tuition via military forms does not grant bona fide residency in Washington State. If you are a bona fide resident of Washington, please complete the Residence Questionnaire and return to the Office of the Registrar.

Please carefully read the sections below and click on the one that applies to you.

Active Duty or Veteran connected Student

To be eligible for residency, active duty military members, Veterans or National Guard members must be currently stationed in Washington. To apply for residency for tuition purposes as an active duty military member or as a member's spouse/dependents, students must provide the following criteria:

1. Complete and print the Residence Tuition for Military  - Connected Students Active Duty and Veterans form 

2. Provide supporting documentation, such as a copy of student's military ID and copy of active duty military member's orders to be stationed in WA. (see form for details)

3. Upload your documents to the Secure Document Upload Portal

Review should take about one week. After that time, students may contact our office to inquire about the status of their paperwork.

Spouse or Child of Active Military Member or a Veteran

To apply for residency for tuition purposes as a dependent spouse/child of an active military member or veteran follow the steps below. 

1. Complete the Tuition Reduction for Military Connected - for Eligible Spouse/Child form.

2. Provide supporting documentation such as a copy of the "Member 4" DD-214 and a Certificate of Eligibility. 

3. Upload your documents to the Secure Document Upload Portal

Active Duty Military Member that is a resident of Washington stationed elsewhere

Complete the following to apply for residency:

• Complete and print the Residence Questionnaire. 

• Documentation of the active duty military member's home of record (L.E.S. - Leave and Earnings Statement)

• Documentation showing that Washington legal ties have been maintained while being stationed elsewhere. You need at least three of the following:

o Driver's License

o Voter Registration

o Vehicle Registration

o Bank Account

o Property Ownership

• Upload your documents to the Secure Document Upload Portal

Discharged member who joined the military in Washington

Complete the following to apply for residency:

• Complete and print the Residence Questionnaire. 

• Submit a copy of their DD-214 showing Washington as their place of entry and date separated.

• Provide verification of returning to the state of Washington within 12 months of discharge.

• Upload your documents to the Secure Document Upload Portal
