Program Overview

Prepare yourself (or your new and seasoned supervisors and managers) for leadership roles within your organizations. In order to be effective you’ll need vision, the ability to acknowledge and recognize the importance of the organization’s culture, to recognize and use sound business strategies, to share and develop leadership within the group and to help the organization and our communities thrive. This 10-week course meets one night a week on campus with online pre-course readings and assignments. 

Who should take this program?

Leadership Essentials is designed for recently promoted supervisors and managers, but is also good way for the seasoned manager to bring their skills up to date and learn techniques for managing the new and ever changing workforce.

Recommended Qualifications

No application required. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software is recommended. Internet access for online materials is required.

Instructor Bio's

Dariush Khaleghi (DK), MS (Org Psych), MBA, SPHR.  Business success in turbulent times comes from the strength of the company’s culture. A strong culture helps employees and organizations achieve their peak potential. DK promotes continuous personal and leadership development in addition to sound management skills to build a sustainable and thriving business culture.  DK’s career is a success story of helping organizations unleash their greatness and achieve unprecedented results. In 2007, he earned the Washington State Governor’s prestigious award for leadership in 2007.  He brings trust, inspiration, expertise, education, humor, humility and results into the classroom.  DK brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in private, public and non-profit sectors with 10 years in HR management, training and leadership development and more than 10 years of facilitation work in leadership, management, and HR.  He holds an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Portland State University and a double-major BA in Business Administration and Psychology from the University of Washington.  He is a certified Talent and Leadership Development Coach, Workplace Coaching Institute (WCI) and is a Certified Transformational Presence Leadership and Coach.

Tina Hagedorn is the founder and executive consultant for Hagedorn and Associates with over 20 years committed to ethical leadership development and generating superior earnings for clients. Her work is integral to significant valuation projects and resulting proceeds. She has a reputation for versatility with diverse constituents in demanding environments and is recognized for excellent leadership and management skills. She provides focused consulting in the areas of financial and economic analysis, facilitation of executive strategic planning workshops and retreats, facilitation of executive leadership development workshops and retreats, tribal enterprise projects, including casino expansion, program development and marketing, conflict resolution and contract negotiation. Tina holds a Leadership Executive MBA from Seattle University, Albers School of Business and Economics and a Bachelors of Business Administration, Pacific Lutheran University, Business Administration; Business and Economics.
