The Biomedical Sciences major admits new students once per year Autumn Quarter only.

The application is open September 25, 2019 and closes on March 15, 2020 at 11:59pm.

Applicants must submit the following: 

  • Personal information
  • Self-Identification of preparatory courses completed or planned
  • Unofficial transcripts for preliminary review
  • Course syllabi (if any preparatory or core science courses were completed at 4-year universities and out-of-state institutions)
  • Essay prompt

Minimum admission requirements:

  • Must be admitted to the University of Washington Tacoma by April 2nd 2020- (

  • Completion of at least 45 college quarter credits

  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA

  • English Composition (the equivalent of TCORE 101/English 101) with a grade of 2.0 or higher

  • MATH 98- Intermediate Algebra or equivalent or higher-level math with a grade of 2.0 or higher

  • Submission of online Biomedical Sciences Application by 11:59pm on March 15, 2020


*All qualified applicants are reviewed for admission to the TBIOMD major in the order that they submitted a completed Biomedical Sciences application.  Students are strongly advised to apply earlier as space MAY become limited depending on the amount of applications received **

**All applicants, including current UW Tacoma students, must complete the Biomedical Sciences Application in order to be admitted into the major.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Please review the entire application to make sure it is complete before you click "Submit" at the end of the application.  Once you submit the application you will not be able to go back and edit your answers or be allowed to start a new application.

There will be several Biomedical Sciences information sessions throughout the year.  This is your opportunity to meet with the Biomedical Sciences advisor and faculty.  It is recommend you attend one of these sessions if you are a prospective Biomedical Sciences student or have questions about the major.  To find the current dates for these sessions, please navigate to the Biomedical Sciences website.  Please be sure and read through the Biomedical Sciences website in full for all up to date information in regards to the major.
