2019 CES & EE Capstone Projects
2017 CES Capstone Projects
Tacoma Fire Department Collaboration
See how UW Tacoma computer engineering and GIS students are collaborating with the Tacoma Fire Department to find ways to 1) Improve citizen preparedness for earthquakes, and 2) Improve firefighter safety by developing technology to track the paths of firefighters inside buildings and monitor conditions as the firefighters work in hazardous environments.
Smart Bookmark Project
See CES/EE faculty member Matt Tolentino talk about his Smart Bookmark project in partnership with Marcy Stein at the School of Education and the Franklin Pierce and Bremerton school districts. Professors Tolentino and Stein were recently awarded a UW Tacoma Collaborative Publicly Engaged Scholarship to build a prototype of this voice-activated device that will prompt readers to request additional information and provide enhanced content to spark deeper engagement and comprehension. The goal is to increase access and learning of STEM content for students in low-income schools to reduce the achievement gap.
