About Student Health Services

Main page content

Student Health Services has expanded to provide you with more ways to access the care you need. With dedicated healthcare providers in downtown Tacoma, additional walk-in locations throughout the Puget Sound, and 24-hour virtual urgent care, we’re making it easier than ever for you to stay Husky and healthy.

Student Health Services is a partnership with CHI Franciscan Health, a premier healthcare provider in the Pacific Northwest.

The Franciscan Prompt Care at St. Joseph Medical Center, just a half mile up the hill from campus, serves as the designated hub for Student Health Services. The St. Joseph prompt care team of providers oversees primary care services for eligible students, and students are able to make appointments Monday through Friday for a wide-variety of covered services, including physicals, preventive medicine and behavioral health. Under this unique model, students can also visit five additional participating Franciscan Prompt Care clinics seven days a week during normal, extended clinic hours.

Who can use Student Health Services?

Currently enrolled UW Tacoma students including those who fall under the Office of the Registrar's quarter-off eligibility policy are eligible to receive all services.

If you have been accepted to UW Tacoma but have not yet enrolled in classes, you may be seen for University-related immunization requirements only.

Don’t forget your ID!

For all services and locations, you must present identification at time of registration. For your protection, we encourage you to bring two forms of ID — current student ID and second valid ID (driver’s license or state ID).
