If you are interested in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, other healthcare fields, you can complete any UW Tacoma undergraduate degree and many prerequisites required of the professional program in which you are interested. Please note that pre-health is not undergraduate major at UW Tacoma, but rather refers to anyone who is considering going to a pre-professional program (medical school, dental school, pharmacy school, physician assistant programs, physical therapy programs, and many more healthcare programs) after completing an undergraduate degree. There are no preferred undergraduate majors for health science programs. Students must be skilled in science and math, but also in the social sciences and humanities. Although many pre-health students major in the sciences, professional schools seek applicants who are well-rounded and are able to understand people socially and emotionally as well as physically. A student may major in the social sciences or liberal arts, while taking pre-health courses in preparation for professional school application. Your academic advisor will support your exploration, preparation and application to professional programs. Schedule an appointment today!
