The Milgard School of Business is housed at the epicenter of Tacoma’s and the Pacific Northwest’s cultural and economic growth, making it the perfect place to dream in a big way about your future. The school acts as a conduit between students and the communities which support us. This is an extremely beautiful position to be in, not only are we able to provide innovative education for our students but are also able to provide the knowledge capital for corporations which are going to hire them.
We are among only 5% of business schools in the world who have AACSB accreditation. This means that our students have access to world class faculty who are respected scholars, consultants, and educators who care deeply about students and their success. The school mission has been refreshed with a new strategic plan. Our new mission can be succinctly described as: Educate, Explore and Engage. We strive to cultivate business leaders and inspire students to become lifelong learners. This will be achieved through six strategic initiatives including promoting high impact teaching practices, actively engaging our alumni, focusing on student careers, encouraging diverse scholarship, offering global learning opportunities, and nurturing an inclusive and supportive culture. We have 850 students from all over the world and have awarded over 5,000 degrees till date.
I invite you to engage with us. Come and connect with our faculty, staff, and students and explore our centers of excellence. The Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility organizes a case competition which attracts students from over eleven countries and our Center for Business Analytics partners with over 20 local and national companies for yearlong student led consulting projects. The Success Center organizes over 36 events for our students, helping them get prepared for jobs and connecting them with over 50 employers.
Many new exciting initiatives like Sports Enterprise Management; Accounting, and Women’s Mentorship Programs; FINTECH incubator; School Contact Program; alumni engagement, Executive in Residence; and programs to support and promote diversity, equity and inclusion are being launched.
With the support of our business partners, donors, and community members we will continue our quest to provide our students a great education by bringing state of the art businesses and techniques into our classes and preparing our students to get great jobs. Through this we will augment our local, national, and international reputation.
Onward and forward! Go Huskies!
