The Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma offers an undergraduate degree program in Business Administration, with options in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing or General Business.
The Milgard School’s standard admission process is how most students enter the BABA degree program. After meeting admission criteria, current UWT and transfer students apply to the Milgard School of Business.
The Milgard Direct Admission program provides the opportunity for exceptional freshman applicants (high school seniors) with a strong interest in studying business to be admitted directly from high school into the Milgard School of Business.
The Milgard School of Business offers minors in Business Administration, Business Data Analytics, Corporate Responsibility, and Sports Enterprise Management.
Minor in Business Administration
The minor in Business Administration is for in any non-business major to increase their understanding of business theory, practices, and applications within a wider economic and social context. This 30-credit minor helps students think strategically, integrate business knowledge, and develop other critical competencies for success in the business world of the 21st century.
The minor in Corporate Responsibility (CR) at the Milgard School of Business is the only CR minor in the western United States. This interdisciplinary minor teaches how to strategically incorporate CR principles in a way that does the most good for stakeholders and society. Students learn about the evolution of CR principles and develop skills to create, implement and measure CR programs in the workplace.
The interdisciplinary minor in Business Data Analytics (BDA) teaches students to use technology to utilize, interpret, and analyze data. Emphasis is placed on appropriate use of data to solve problems across different industries.
The minor in Sports Enterprise Management (SEM) offers students a unique opportunity to learn the business side of the for-profit and not-for-profit sports industry. Through a selection of interdisciplinary courses students learn how to apply critical thinking and reasoning when responding to questions and scenarios in the evolving environment of Sports Enterprise Management.
UW Tacoma's Business Administration program was established in 1994 and renamed the Milgard School of Business in 2003 in recognition of a generous endowment of $15 million from Gary E. Milgard, the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation and James A. Milgard.
