2012 Convocation

Chancellor Debra Friedman encourages you to join her for an exciting event and new UW Tacoma tradition that symbolizes the importance of university-community partnerships. Convocation is a traditional event to welcome students to university life.
Because UW Tacoma is so well connected and supported by its surrounding community, we will begin our celebration in the city by marching to campus in five processionals, led by musicians, from different locations. Each procession will include students and their famlies, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community. Once on campus, we'll enjoy a brief program and a festive event with food, music and a fair featuring local businesses and nonprofits showcasing what downtown Tacoma has to offer.
